Have you ever felt like you can’t shake your past? Does it feel like the noise of the past and its mishaps drown out any future hope and excitement? If we live tethered to the past we can’t move into our future with authority and bravery. Whether it was past wounds, hurts or failures we have to shed the thoughts that hinder our growth. More important, when our past achievements overshadow our current dreams it’s time to take action.

We all will come to a crossroads in our life of having to pick what we will believe. Not just in our life in general but what we will believe on a daily basis. Our thinking determines our actions and then they become our behaviors. What could be more exciting than living each day about what is to come. What would it be to live with hope?

My life took on a radical change the moment I turned myself in spiritually. My future was becoming more and more toxic as I continued to project my past record onto myself and others around me. Including my children. I couldn’t move forward and always felt stuck. This isn’t fair to them and to me. When I began my relationship with Jesus I received my new identity. That new identity is a new model. It was a relief to know I didn’t have to life with shame and fear but He sees me as who I am becoming and where I am headed. In short, my new life doesn’t come equipped with a rear-view mirror. How about trading in your old model for a new one?

I’d love to hear from you by leaving a comment below. How much of your past haunts you today? Are you stuck in fear as a result of your past decisions?
